A couple weeks back I bought a 1990 Mini with a fairly big Webber carb... Webber carbs are fun on Mini, but don’t shut down the engine all of a sudden after driving fast... It floods it...

It took me an hour and half to get it to start again... It was 36 degrees outside too (97 degrees for you americans). Fun times! :)

Glad you clarified. At 36 degrees, I’m putting on a coat and gloves. At 97 degrees, I’m taking off my pants.

Did it take that long! Not fun. Something to do with the design of the carb? If I’ve flooded things I usually crank it over for a few minutes with the butterflies wide open to evaporate some fuel and they start ok.

At 97 degrees I’m very close to literally boiling.

You would think the heat would evaporate it quicker.

If you can remove the spark plugs, probably... But I had no tools to do that so it wasn’t really evaporing anywhere :)

Just noticed something about old Minis, and correct me if I’m wrong. With the way the roofline lips continue down along the front of the doors, you could totally mount a roof rack in front of the windshield. Tell me that shit aint dope

Dope is what you took too much of to even think of that hahaha :)

It would actually also probably work in the rear :)

Maximum cargo capacity!! For real though, do the lips serve any real intended purpose? Or are they just part of the body assembling process?

Honestly have no idea... I think it’s just a way to assemble pieces together for cheap...
